I am working on a research project called ‘War and Memory in Hokkaido’. In its initial stages the project was funded by a grant from the Japanese Ministry of Education (2006-9). The aim is to examine how regional history affects views of World War II history among people in Hokkaido. Papers from the early stages of the project are as follows.
